Very, very good for the first part, where Meinzer walks you through the "who, what, how, why" of the podcast you are thinking of. Less helpful in the actual technical aspects, where Meinzer shows she's never launched a podcast independently (Hire a producer! Hire a graphic designer! Hire hire hire!). She should have asked a few more solo operators for help in that section.

This was a clear, easy to understand, and entertaining look into the world of podcasting! Kristen's voice comes through loud and clear. I enjoyed the concrete examples and most of all, her empowerment! I don't have a podcast but I found that most of what she shared can translate to anything creative. I enjoyed this inside baseball look at podcasting. Well done!

In between the humble bragging there are occasionally some nuggets of good information. I guess if you have no common sense and have never paid attention to what other podcasts do then this will be really usefull.

Good info to get over the hump of not knowing if, where, or how to start. If you know you don’t have the answers start here.

This book gives useful information for aspiring podcasters and inspiration to find your voice, tell your story, and build your community.

Kristen Meinzer has the experience and track record to credibly write this book. Her stories and writing style plus short chapters made the book easy to read and to reference again when needed.

I liked that Meinzer pointed the future podcaster to other sources for technical (ever changing) and equipment recommendations. As I start my own podcast in the upcoming months, I will utilize some of her advice and examples. Mostly I am encouraged by her voice and her story.

This book is awesome! Kristen has great advice about the whole process of podcasting, from conception to creating a listenership. It’s a great guide for anyone looking to start their own podcast, or create any content really.

Started out really great but as time went on her tone got a little annoying and I didn't appreciate her commentary on certain things. I want to know how to make a podcast, not the author's thoughts on the demographics of the podcasting community or what some call vocal fry (I finally know what this is haha). Some might find this interesting, I found it unnecessary. I did like a lot of what she had to say overall though. A speedy read, definitely glad I went ahead and gave it a shot.

Good information on creativity, even if you don't want to start a podcast

I loved the audiobook of So You Want to Start a Podcast. For people who listen to Kristen on By the Book, it is a joy to hear a familiar voice reading aloud. (I kept on expecting her to say "That's what the book says, and so that's what we did for two weeks straight" at the end of each instructional list.) As a non-podcaster, I still got many new ideas for how to improve my blog and other creative projects.

a really informative and interesting book about podcasts written by a heckin delightful podcast host. highly recommend if ur ever thinking about starting a podcast
