An almost perfect children’s book, except where the Witches are called ‘females’. The book seemed to equate the word ‘female’ with bad, and it was off-putting.
Four stars for the story. Five stars for the audio read by Miranda Richardson. My daughter and I had so much fun listening to this each week on our way to lessons and back. We laughed and laughed. I am a huge Roald Dahl fan and while this is not my very favorite of his, it’s still delightful.

Really liked it! Lovely childrens book, funny description on the witches, short and fast-pacing. Liked that it somehow had a magical touch even though the witches weren't interfering with the protagonist very often. Read it in english and am not sure if I just missed it in the beginning, but somehow the teller was a girl in my mind for a rather long time until I realized it was supposed to be a boy.
Also bonus points for a rather unusual ending and the sentence "It doesn't matter who you are or what you look like, so long as somebody loves you." <3
