I really liked this book but I had to give it 3.5 ⭐. It was good in the beginning but then I had to force myself to finish it as I felt like there wasn’t much of anything throughout. I would’ve given this book 2 ⭐ if it wasn’t for the ending which really caught me off guard. The ending was what actually made this book worth it for me. I haven’t seen the film but I definitely will since I heard that they completely changed the ending.
⚠️SPOILERS!!!⚠️
1. I felt like the subplot of romance between Julia and Campbell wasn’t really necessary for the plot but I kind of enjoyed it.
2. I feel like the author should’ve given us more on Jesse and the whole arsonist thing.
3. Anna’s death did indeed make me cry.
4. I loved the fact that Anna’s relationship with her parents was still somewhat normal despite the lawsuit.
5. I didn’t think Kate was going to live after everything but I’m glad the author made the decision to keep her alive.

I hate Jodi Picoult. She always makes me cry. Never just once per book either. Nooo, that would be too considerate. This time it was in the middle of a crowded beach on Mauritius. Thank the Lord for wide brimmed hats and sunglasses with super-sized lenses. Anyway, this one was typically brilliant, touching and insightful. Get your tissues ready...

Jodi Picoult has a good habit of enticing the reader into her well told stories. The only problem is that her books can be similar and you can kind of predict what happens next. This book, however is one of my favorites by her.

This book had a lot of potential. However there were unnecessary and unfinished storylines and the end is ridiculous.
The author needs to read up on disabilities before deciding a main character will have one. It’s somewhat insulting that Campbell was driving all over the place in this book. People who have epilepsy cannot drive with active seizures. They have to be under control for at least 12 months in most states. This guy had episodes frequently. In fact he was driving within the same day of having a grand mal seizure.
Overall, the idea was interesting to me, but failed.

Really...id give it a 3 and half...very close to 4 stars...its not the most amazing book or beautiful writing or anything of the sort. But it is beautiful the story and sad and very real. Very human. Which is what I liked also the way it was written the structure of it. The multiple versions of the same and yet different things that interconnect. I think that is what makes the book work the fact that you see through the eyes of all key characters. Why I really really liked the book very very much is simply because its very real. As if not only is the possible but of course it would happen just like this because its the way the universe is.
Like I said it works because of the structure and because of how tangible the life of these people are.
