The first half of the book felt quite slow, with little to no chemistry between Scottie and Irene - yet somehow, everyone believes they're dating without question. Even Scottie’s relationships with her friends felt lukewarm at best. I wasn’t sure why they were friends (or if they really were friends to begin with). However, about halfway through, the story picked up pace and the chemistry between Scottie and Irene finally started to feel real. This made the book much more engaging and I found myself invested in the story. My favorite part was the detailed basketball match - it took me back to my own days playing basketball. It really captured the energy of a game, though we didn’t have cheerleaders where I’m from 🤣. Overall, it’s a cute and enjoyable read, but I couldn’t get over the odd names - Honey-Belle? Thora? And a town called Grandma Earl? Those were a bit much for me 🤣.

this book is ridiculous but in the BEST way. so cute and campy and filled with cliches. a very fun queer read.

I love Quindlen's books in general. But this??? A sapphic book with a basketball player and the head cheerleader??? On top of that, it's enemies-to-lovers?? OMG.

I'm so glad that queer kids nowadays have this, that I - a queer adult - have this. It's a sweet sapphic romcom. And even though it's light-hearted, we see Scottie going through her grief of losing her lover and growing to love herself. It's more than a coming-of-age story.

SO cute
