This book dragged a little for me (the Thanksgiving holiday didn't help) even though I liked it a lot. I read the first installment of this series right when it came out and I just felt a little too far removed from the details and action of that novel to fully appreciate this one. It was a good story and as I read, some of those details came back to me but I feel like I missed a lot of the significance inherent in some scenes and reveals and I could barely remember who any of the fugitives from Sheol I were.
All that being said, I really do love world-building in books and now that I have finished this second book, I will go back and try to find a good summary of the first one to fill in some of the blanks that I couldn't quite remember (I rarely reread books). The plot is complex, enjoyably so, and I look forward to future installments of this series. This series is also dystopian without being soul-crushing and romantic without being mushy. I glad we got to learn more about the Seven Seals (though I still want to know more) and life in London. I also love the attention to detail with everything, even very minor characters. The scrimmage was one of my favorite scenes partly because of all the hilarious and interesting names and descriptions of the mime-lords and mollishers. Most of the characters feel real and stand out.
Good book, that ends with a cliffhanger that is enjoyable instead of annoying. This is a unique and interesting series that deals with a lot of concepts I haven't encountered before, even if the Rephaim are kind of vampires and the Enim are kind of zombies. The world Shannon has built is really rich and there is a lot more story to be told.

Sadly I started to zone out a little on this one. Lots of characters to keep track of & I felt like I was missing a lot, should probably give it another go.
