5/5 stars.
Gut wrenching finish, as usual. I am in shock, in awe, in complete bewilderment.
Shannon is a master at storytelling. I’ll comeback and say more when I can get my thoughts together as I’m still reeling from the shock and suspense that ending had.

after reading the first book very quickly for my own standards, i jumped straight into reading this one (second book of the series) and i couldn't focus at all. the plot felt a lot slower, especially the romantic subplot, and it made me skip paragraphs and pages.
i wanna return to this once i know im in the right mood and ready to appreciate the worldbuilding that the author clearly put time and effort into!

I thought this was a great sequel to The Bone Season. Picks up where it leaves off, Paige wrestles with who she is and what she's going to do about the events of Bone Season. It starts a bit slow, but the last 200-300 pages its incredibly hard to put down.

4.5⭐️ It took me a bit longer than the first book to get into the story. I think I was so ensconced with Oxford that the violent shove back into London threw me and it was like trying to read a new first book series entirely. That said, once I caught the vibe this one took off for me. I was looking for more Reph action, but the way the author is building both the voyant stories AND the Reph stories simultaneously is appealing.
The ending boosted the rating for me because I simply could not tear my eyes from the page. I NEED ANSWERS ASAP!! Can’t wait to continue on!

I will admit that it took me a little which to get back into this world, and to remember all of the different characters. The story picks up almost exactly where the previous book ends, so there is actually very little preamble going over everything that happened in the previous book (which for the most part I do prefer). I will not go into the plot as this is such a direct continuation of the first in the series. But overall I am still really enjoying the world building, and I like the overarching plot and how it is starting to develop.
