Such an interesting premise. This book tickles my brain and its "weird" questions make me relate. So many things can be linked to a color it's astounding. Beautifully written but you need certain state of mind to grasp it.

‘Terror. It was terror that she read in those two black eyes.’
Absolutely speechless.
Such a vivid and nostalgic book; why find a way to narnia when this book exists.
Skipping over the pages and heading on to the next chapter just creates a pathway to a new beginning as if you’re living these stories yourself.

A collection of beautifully written short passages that appear to be meditations on the death of Kang’s sister, born before her, who died just two hours after she was birthed. Each meditation in the collection is centered around the meaning/implications of that death, grief/loss, and ability of the human spirit to persist in the face of loss. Each is thematically tied together with the color white. The artistry in Kang's writing was expected (she's won many literary awards). But what I found interesting was how culture shapes our association with color. A quick perusal of her list of white things shows us that. How she weaves that into her mediations to tie the whole thing together is beautiful.

Simply stunning.
