Love all Sarah MacLean, first time doing it as an audiobook. It was good work listening. How the narrarator said pleasure kind of drove me up the wall, but that was a personal thing

It was nice to have closure on this series. She's a great storyteller, and her characters are pretty interesting...but they aren't exactly likeable. Sometimes an author will make me root for someone totally unexpected, but I didn't really buy it with this one. Everyone is mentally F'd by their upbringing, granted, and it was overall a good ride. I just wouldn't reread it. I even forgot to review it until several weeks later.
Not my favorite book by Sarah Maclean but enjoyable.
One of my (many) pet peeves in books is when one character is viewed terribly by almost everyone but they have information/perspective that will redeem themselves. Do they immediately reveal it and defend themselves? Of course not. They needlessly wait until almost the end of the book to finally reveal why they are in fact not a terrible person. This kind of reveal can be done well (see: ACOTAR/[b:A Court of Mist and Fury|17927395|A Court of Mist and Fury (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #2)|Sarah J. Maas|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1546406996l/17927395._SY75_.jpg|25126749]), but when it's done badly - well, you have this book. The guy basically did everything but the one thing that would have made her forgive him sooner.
