An amazing ending to an amazing series. Probably MacLean's best yet.

Rep: Black side characters, side characters in a sapphic relationship

Not a bad book, just by the time I made it to the third, the characters seemed so similar to the previous two books that I was just a bit bored and uninterested in the ending.

Sarah, this is definitely your fault. You made me hate Ewan so much in the previous two books that I just couldn't finish this one. I tried, I really tried.

3.25 Stars While the reveal of what really happened all those years ago lent Ewan some redemption points... His obsessive stalking and inability to see why his half brothers would want to hide Grace (aka Dahlia) from him with no overtures trying to explain what had really happened that night... just feel cuckoo bananas for me.
So when your house is built out of cards from the start, things just kept not feeling... right.
By the very, very, very, very end, it worked out and Ewan pulls his head out of his butt parts but it all still feels too much of a stretch. Which made it not as enjoyable for me. I know some folks are calling this a grovel read, but it didn't really feel that way. Ewan's too self-assured in every other way that might matter. I never found myself really rooting for Ewan to win (which was more of a vertical battle than an uphill one) and was often more frustrated to see this badass woman constantly battle all this indecision and angst that felt like she should have gotten over years ago.
The four of them were only together in their early teens, for not even two years... More than twenty years had passed... So Glimpses of Devil (Devon) and Beast (Whit) and their wives, and how in tune they were with Grace while she was oblivious were adorable and rare treats. Having been so fearsome in past books they're rendered kittens here and its kind of amazing.

I wasn't sure how she'd do it, but [a:Sarah MacLean|1598076|Sarah MacLean|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1499444204p2/1598076.jpg] did it! I think this book is definitely better having read the first two books make this one better! I absolutely love this series!

Daring and the Duke was good close to The Bareknuckle Bastards series. There were some really effective scenes and conversations with Ewan and Grace, and I enjoyed the conversations between Grace, Devil, and Whit. I also loved the details about 72 Shelton. I look forward to reading the first book in Hell's Belles next year.

Side note: I really like how MacLean incorporates Greek mythology in her stories. Even the little snippets/moments are meaningful.
