The adventures contained in this volume are very much in vein of the common superhero, although there are a few meta moments towards the later half, where the comic book existence of the characters is hinted at. It is always interesting to see in what novel ways Buddy chooses to use his animal powers. Most of the stories of this collection centre around Buddy's animal activism. The morality behind the movement gets called into question a couple of times. And I think it is Grant Morrison's attempt to work through his own thoughts on the matter. A lot of lesser known superheroes also make cameos throughout the comics. It was a fun, if somewhat conventional (considering it was written by Grant Morrison) read.

Kind of a weird one. Some are hits and misses with Buddy.
Some things I likes was his love for his wife, his sympathy to animals, and the inclusion of superheroes that aren't used all the time!

Weird thing was mostly writing with plot, powers, or making him extremely animal rights and ignoring human life (dropping them in the sea or letting a fire take over a building).

Good enough to finish and maybe not the best. Typical Grant writing.

I thought I'd like this Grant Morrison-written story better. Well, he had an uphill battle: I've never thought much of Animal Man, and still don't.

Character development, art and storylines really shined and came together in this volume. Fascinating and original use of powers and once again 'fighting' unconventional and critical, underdeveloped threats that are a natural match for the main character. A classic volume and essential reading for contemporary times.

Same as the first volume of this run for Grant Morrison. It was okay, but didn't blow my mind.
