I saw Montgomery speak at the National Book Festival a couple years ago. My brother encouraged me to attend the sessions and she was incredibly articulate in her love of animals. This was the first book that I have read by Montgomery but it reads as though a love story to 13 of the animals she has encountered along the way. The illustrations are gorgeous!
