I didn’t know what to expect, but it sounded like it would be something like a cozy fantasy.

I’m not much of a fantasy reader, as I’m not drawn to troubled princesses and dangerous kingdoms and dragons.

So this was a pleasant diversion. I’ll wait a while before moving on to Lattes & Legends #1. Not really interested in an Orc version of the tv series Cheers/Starbucks just yet.

A return to the cozy slice-of-life world of our girl Viv the Very Chill Orc. I liked this book a lot more than I did Legends & Lattes, which I thought was cute, but lacked a certain depth. This book was much more fleshed out and wasted much less time catching the characters up to our speed. I liked the quieter setting, and the addition of a proper antagonist (and, dare I say, plot). The theme of temporary connections, of right-person-wrong-time, and the bittersweet ending hammered on my heartstrings. A much more convincing read, and one that makes me far more willing to follow this author to wherever he goes next.
