3 stars. Yup, I read it. This is the first (and probably the last) [Filipino] published Wattpad novel that I read and it was ooookay.

WHAT DID I JUST READ?!!!
Several days ago, me and my friends went to watch the movie adaptation of this book.
I personally, loooooooved it. To the point that I've been spazzing over it for the entire week.
And me being not a KathNiel fan prior to the movie says a lot.
A friend of mine said that the book was waaaaay better because the movie didn't make her cry. That made me want to read the this since I was bawling for the most part of the movie, so I kinda expected a lot from this.
There was a huge difference between the movie adaptation and the book. A huge difference, that is. The only similarities were the characters and the title- apart from that, everything was different already.
As for me, I totally prefer the movie. I had this certain connection with the characters, specially with Athena, in the film. In this, I was waiting for that part where the Athena and Kenji would fell in love. I felt that it was rushed a bit because there was no turning point. Really. The book failed to make me fall in love with them. "When did they fall in love?", was my exact thought when I was halfway through the book.
It was written poorly as well. The last time I read a tagalog pocket book was, maybe, more than 10 years ago, but I know that this one was not written and narrated well. I almost put it down, but then again, gave it another chance.
Maybe, it is unfair to compare this to the movie considering that they were totally different. However, those qualities that made me love the movie were all missing in the book- connection with characters, the kilig, the funny scenes and the fact that the movie was more touching, more genuine and was plotted better.
I watched one of the interview with the director of the movie, Cathy Garcia-Molina, she said that there were more good scenes in the book that it was unfortunate that they cannot include them in the movie due to time constraints.I was like, "where are all these so-called scenes?! Am I reading a different book?". I was deeply disappointed.
The ending of this book was so twisted. I totally hated it. It was selfish. I know it may happen, but I never though someone would have that inclination to encourage another person to do that "thing". It was bloody mental. I never thought it would end that way.
I should have stick with the movie. If you saw the movie already, don't even bother to read this anymore. Totally unrecommendable.
I would like to take this chance to praise the director, the screen writer, the actors/actresses and everyone behind the film. SDTG the movie touched me in so many different ways and made this book more creative, more deeper, less cliched and so kilig.
I would have wished for a better ending for the movie, to be honest. I wished Athena and Kenji fought for their love harder. I wished they were more selfish. I wished they didn't have to sacrifice. I wished time was not too bitchy for them. This book answered all that. If they ended up together in the film, they would've suffered the same faith in the book. Them being together for a longer time won't lessen the pain once them become apart.

I read this about 4 or 5 years ago, but as most memorable stories go, I could still remember the whole plot. A friend emailed it to me, and I found out it was one of those Internet novels that are circulating around. It actually originated in a CandyMag forum, but I only found that out now. As in, about five minutes before I typed this. I didn't even know it was up in Goodreads!
At first, this seemed like a novelization of a traditional Korean drama (yes, I watch a lot of those - it's a guilty pleasure and one of the reasons why I don't get any work done): funny, light, charming. Later on, though, conflicts ensue and everything spirals to a really beautiful but sad ending.
I was at first cautious of reading this because it was in Taglish, but when I started reading I took great pains to convert the whole document into a format that an iPod Nano could read so I could read it at night when I'm supposed to be asleep (it's practically my first ebook - plus, no need for flashlights!). What I first thought to be a bad thing turned out to be an asset; somehow, reading a novel in pretty much the way you normally speak makes everything so much easier. Though some of the plot points may now be considered cliche, I still have fond memories of reading this from a perspective of a blissfully ignorant girl fresh out of grade school. Oh, memories =))

May pag-asa pa sana yung trahedya ng storya at simpleng kwento ng immature na relationship (FYI: the book that I read was the unedited version, so there's a lot of wrong grammar and a lot of unnecessary smilies because the author cannot even 'write' simple descriptions of things and events) so for example, I didn't care about that. The verdict was: PAULET ULET nalang yung sitwasyon. Ok sana sakin si Lucas pero biglang nagiging bipolar silang lahat at nagiging Kenji at Athena sila lahat. Itong tatlong toh parepareho ng ugali, minsan di mo na madistinguish. Isa pang factor dito ay nakakapagod basahin ang monologues ni Athena, pickle-minded, tapos lalaban kuno eh susuko rin naman. This another foolish Kenji uto uto ang peg. At say mo lahat nlng nagkasakit duon, lahat VIP, sakanila rin lahat ng properties duon halos haha, very k-pop. Yung mga events masyado fast paced na pina lalag lang ng paulet ulet na regrets ng Athena at Kenji na yan, at ang heroic kuno ni Lucas. Ahem, yung ending, lame. Mas okay kung nag end nlng sa pagmuni muni ni Kenji sa puntod hanggang tumanda. At mas strong character ni kontrabidang Abi, mas may sense pa kausap, sans pang aagaw nya, kerida lagi. Lol bottomline, I'll go with paps Kirby nalang. Banayad.

Malaking part ito ng teenage life ko when I was in high school. I do admit that I wasn't part of the whole waiting game coz I read when it was already done, but still it touched me more than I'll ever know how to describe. I'll reread it once I got the copy. :) Good job!
This was the first story I read from Wattpad, and sooner learned that it was from candymag. The story was really good. I can feel the characters and it made me cry.
I've read this one 4 or 5 years ago when it was only an online fanfic on Candy. I loved it. My favorite pinoy fanfic so far.
Sad but very heart warming ending. A foreshadow of Romeo and Juliet kind of.
