Probably more like 3.5 stars, but I'll round up. It was fun--made me want to re-read Ella Enchanted--but the main character was awfully young to be such an accomplished healer, plus it would have been more believable had all the characters been at least a couple of years older since so much of the plot revolved around marriage proposals. Even in tween fantasy, 15-year-olds shouldn't be thinking about getting married! I really liked Evie's spunk, ingenuity, and determination to stay single until she was older, though.
A fun story that starts with a proposal and ends in a quick wedding. But not without a long story in between, filled with excitement and and realization of what the heart truly wants.
This book was very enjoyable, and I really liked seeing the background for some of the characters in Ella enchanted. It started off a little bit slow for me, but quickly picked up speed, definitely worth a read if you enjoy Gail Carson Levine's books.
Ella Enchanted is very, very dear to me and reading this didn't ruin my fondness for that book, which is about as high of praise as I can bestow on this one.
3.5/5 rounding down.
Okay so I HATE the main character she is so annoying like why would you say no when she knew the consequences I understand she was young but like COME ON. And she also told us she had feelings for him like just stay engaged forever at this point. You can guess the ending from the beginning it is predictable. Not the best but not the worst I would not give it to any of my friends to read though. I like the Bamarre series so much better.
Extra: Omg I can’t believe I finished this in time for Christmas!!!

This was a fun, quick read. I loved Ella Enchanted, and this was a wonderful way to revisit that world while meeting new characters.
The writing was simple as it is meant for a younger audience, but it was nice to read something enjoyable and quick after being in a reading slump for a while.
Definitely recommend if you're just looking for something to pass some time
