2 stars for the mystery. I love how the suspense was built. It was thrilling, and yeah, my very only reason to stick to this book because I'm dying to find out about the ending and who the hell the psycho was.

The rest of them...

- 1 star for the unnecessary horny and unnecessary sex scenes. I know, I get it, I've been told so many times that it is one of the most basic human needs (

I enjoyed this, but was having a little deja-vu because I recently read this author's LOST series, and there are odd similarities with the first book, [b:Broken|22059324|Broken (LOST, #1)|Cynthia Eden|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1410143225s/22059324.jpg|41388496], and the 5th book, [b:Taken|29436317|Taken (LOST, #5)|Cynthia Eden|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1473678691s/29436317.jpg|49704373] ... all three heroines were the sole survivor of a serial killer, and in this particular book, like with Taken, the serial killer likes to mark his victims with a brand / tattoo that claims them as his possession.

It's obviously a story framework that Eden is a big fan of.

Not to say the stories are identical - they aren't - but there were definite moments of deja-vu, and I started to mix up story points from this book and the others, in my head. I think I just read all these similar books too close together...

This was my first Cynthia Eden book and I absolutely loved it. I was kinda uncertain about this one because of the book cover (it doesn't exactly demonstrate too much mystery or suspense). But fortunately, this book contained the perfect blend of mystery and romance.

I liked the fact that Monica and Luke knew each other way before the book started. Because it gave character to their relationship. It was already established so the author didn't have to spend too much time developing it. The suspense was well portrayed and I loved the characters. The way the plot unraveled was great and I could experience the sense of urgency during the climax. It was my kind of romantic suspense story so I enjoyed it a lot.

I really thought that I could stomach a romance that was told like this. I love Criminal Minds, I love thrillers and such in books so I thought that would be enough to get me through.

Oh boy, was I mistaken.

Really like this book. I am really looking foward to the next in the series. For someone who isn't used to reading suspense, I was a little worried I would make it through. Monica was a tough girl after the whole Romeo killer, but to be targeted again, that is beyond a bad day. Luke needed to be in Monica's life to break through that ice. But it's understandable why she needed that protection. Most would have been lying broken in a paded cell the rest of their life, but she fought them head on...

As a romance book this was a 2-3 stars for me. Just ok, not good.

But as a mystery book about catching a serial killer it was really good. So I choose to rate it as a mystery/crime book.

A nice romance to read but above all a scary plot that I loved

A romance that I read with pleasure, especially for the plot which was creepy, twisted and breathtaking (I LOVED this ending !!) I got a little less attached to the couple because I felt like I didn't know them enough, but it's still a nice romance !

In short, a suspense romance that can be devoured without moderation

4 stars.
I really enjoyed this book! All the aspects were done really well in my opinion, and I had a super fun time reading.
The two main characters were really likable and I could easily empathize with them. Their romance was pretty good and I enjoyed the balance the book had with plot and romance.
The mystery was also really good, it was interesting how it connected to the Heroine. I did figure out who the killer was but that just made it more fun and there were a lot of times I did doubt myself a little bit, a couple of red herrings that were fun to weed through.
