I am a sucker for character. The plot for Onyx whizzes by and sometimes feels more forced than authentic, but I do enjoy Arwen's sauciness and Golden's attempt to leave readers in the dark with Arwen as the plot unfolds.

A Dawn of Onyx is a decent slow-burn fantasy romance with good character dynamics and an intriguing setup. I enjoyed the enemies-to-lovers tension and the magic system, but I wished the plot had progressed a bit more by the end. Still, it was a fun read overall, and I’m curious to see where book two goes.


Overall I’d say this is a this is a 3.5 star book
