This book would’ve been the PERFECT standalone. Genuinely had everything to make me love it. It being stretched on to more than one book is fair enough considering the world building that’s required but tbvh it’s not smth I’m drawn to continuing.

I’m gna happily live on pretending the book ended on page 474 💋💋💋

I see what the hype was about now and it was low-key worth getting to the last 60 pages but also not worth the bore that was the second half of the book. The pacing was inconsistent which continuously put me in a slump but this time I was determined to finish it once and for all.

I’m glad I did force myself to finish bc that ending was refreshing.

I never managed to get past page 120.
A story that had such potential in world building and story line but failed at the actual writing.

It felt like it was the writers first book and I do think it was.

The pacing was off completely - i didn’t care about the characters even though the story seemed to point that I should be caring about them.

The dialogue was at many times poorly written. Frankly the flow was off and felt stilted. Once i decided I had read better dialogue on Watt-pad when i was 14 I decided to drop the book. Maybe i’ll come back to it and give it another try but considering some of the other comments that basically say what I am saying maybe Im not being too harsh.

I quite disappointed considering the hype this received everywhere.

Edit- i found out it is the authors debut novel and whilst i still stand by my comments perhaps my disappointment shouldn’t be that deep. Anyway lots of potential but lots of room for future improvement.

Anywho.
