I really enjoyed this! I have never actually read an Arthur Conan Doyle book, but I love Sherlock and the Sherlock Holmes movies with Robert Downey Jr so I do know the basics of the stories. I loved this new fresh take on the Holmes and Watson characters, Charlotte and Jamie were an awesome duo.

I think the dialogue between Holmes and Watson was what kept the pages flying, instead of the mystery they were trying to solve. It didn't grab me, and I wasn't dying to see who was the killer I just loved reading the conversations between the two.

The last few chapters really ramped up the pace though, and I found myself finding any spare moment to get my hands on the book and finish. I'm looking forward to seeing the next adventures they go on, and possibly even adding one of Conan Doyle's books to my to-read shelf.

this book was a solid three and a quarter stars. the quality of the writing was eh but the characters and the plot CARRIED!!!! i love jamie and charlotte so much it’s wild. i wish we got to see more of milo!! i can’t wait to read the second one! but i will say there wasn’t really a distinct characterization of jamie even though the book is from his pov?? or maybe that was just a me thing?? either was i liked it so 🤷‍♀️

A little confusing at first and it made my brain bleed a little trying to understand everything. But I was at the edge of my seat all the way through. The multiple plot twists gave me whiplash and I bounced from thinking one person was the culprit to another

Easy reading, modern take on the "real" Holmes story. Enjoyed the characters and the fast pace. It would have been better were I more familiar with the original Doyle stories, but they are definitely not a prerequisite. Solid middle great detective story.
