I quite enjoyed reading this short story which involves something different such as vampires. Also, both Jane and Maura are applying their investigative and scientific skills, respectively, to convince us that from their perspectives, vampires never exist in the world.

Book Review: Freaks (Rizzoli & Isles #8.5) by Tess Gerritsen.

For a free short story, it wasn't bad.

Great fast read with a quick resolution. Sometimes what looks like a homicide is something else completely. As is the case here in Freaks. This is where medical examiner Maura Isles is at her best. Taking what looks like the obvious and finding out the truth. Even though it isn't a full blown mystery (and as amazing as Ms. Gerritsen, I'm not sure even she can pull off a full-blown mystery in 32 pages), it's a very interesting and enjoyable story with a mini-mystery inside.

(And yes, I am having Rizzoli & Isles withdrawals... how can you tell?)

For a story read, it was OK but the ending really disappointed me! I have come to expect so much more from Tess Gerritsen. It was free though so shouldn't complain too much.

 Read October 2020
Wish there was more to the story, but I guess there's only so much you can do in 14 pages.. (the other 10 are a preview of a next book.)

I’m sure I’d enjoy the full length writings of Tess Gerritsen. It was a solid speedy read to get a taster.
