Review:
I'm back in my hockey romance era. I could not put this down. The FMC and the MMC's tension is so good. They both have strength and softness with each other and with the side characters. The MMC is very supportive of the FMC in her professional hockey journey and actively fights against the sexism she faces. They balance each other very well.

Summary:
Emmy is the first woman to play a regular season game for the NHL. She meets Maverick and they get off the wrong foot as he does not realize she is his new teammate.

Emmy is physically and emotionally distant from the team due to locker rooms and her desire to prove herself. One night, with tensions high after a rough game, Emmy and Maverick give in to each other. They win and they decide their benefits relationship is a new good luck charm.

Emmy is starting to settle into the city and making friends. As the benefits continue with Maverick, he and Emmy get to know each other more with their one question a day game.  Emmy is thinking that maybe D.C. is becoming her home with Maverick, their teammates, and their friends.

This was my first Chelsea Curto book and ummmm what was I waiting for?! I devoured this.
I really loved that this hockey romance actually showcased hockey being played and showed us some of the grittier aspects of the sport (example: fights on the ice). I also really loved the discussion surrounding women in sports! Emmy is a trailblazer and I adored her so much.
Now we can't not talk about the romance. This book is spiiiicy and it was so good. Love that consent is front and center! I loved Maverick and Emmy's relationship. There was tension and banter and steam. You could tell the chemistry was there and they brought out the best in each other. I loved how all of Maverick's green flags were showcased: donating to charity, babysitting his niece, being an all around nice guy who really cares about everyone...ugh I loved him.
Overall, this was a top tier romance. I loved everything about it and will be reading more of this series!
