I was disappointed in the author's styling of fae society and the fact that Maleficent's equivalent was aged way down to her 20s, to match Briar Rose. Though to be honest, both characters felt even younger due to the writing style. Over all the quality of the writing was simply not enough for me to get over that disappointment. It felt amateurish and there was a lot of info dumping as well as telling instead of showing.

5/5⭐️ LOVEDD! Like Unexpectedly loved it so so much. A sapphic sleeping beauty retelling ughhhh. I felt so much for alyce. Even Aurora. The ending was a whirlwind and I need to read the second book but i saw the first page and there’s a time jump

3.5 I think? This took awhile to get into, but I definitely appreciate Aurora not being some sort of passive princess. The worldbuilding is sound, even if the villains are a bit moustache twirling.

I have like a huge love-hate relationship with it. At some point I wanted to throw it out of the window, and sometimes I was huging it.

The book took some interesting turns near the ending, I had never seen that coming.

I'm still not sure whether I like it or not, but I do recommend it.
