The way Heather Walter writes about the senses within the world she has built is what really kept me reading this book. And of course the sapphicness of the entire book. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was that I felt that some parts of the book dragged on a little too long and you could see the plot twists a mile away. Regardless, I throughly enjoyed reading this book and would 100% read it again just for the interesting take on a classic fairytale.

It was pretty good. Very slow plot, but it was alright overall. The twists at the end were amazing though!! Great work.

Not all strong female protagonists have to be beautiful. They don't have to be entirely Good, either. Great LGBTQ+ rep in Alyce as the tormented Dark Grace imprisoned by a society that literally bleeds Graces dry. Her love story and growth into her powers is definitely a great read. I also identify with her rage and defiance, even as those in power seek to grind her down at every step. This is a book for our times, especially.
