I loved that it did not have a traditional happy ending or bad ending the cliffhanger was amazing and made me want to read the second book immediately I read this in 4 hours and 8 minutes

buddy read with the dear ashley!
this was crazy!! i LOVED the insane mash-up of retellings - mainly focused on the original sleeping beauty but with some cinderella and possibly some snow white mixed in - and i loved the sapphic romance as well! the characters were super realistic, and i'm so excited for book #2,!
overall, this was just insanely entertaining and wonderfully sapphic!

because lord knows i love a good corruption arcoverall, this was just insanely entertaining and wonderfully sapphic!
I always love a good fairy tale reimagining. This was great, excited to read the sequel, Misrule.
This was an absolutely fantastic book. It does a great job of humanizing a traditionally known villain. The characters were all very well written, especially the main character Alyce. She stays true to her developed character throughout the entire book. I felt genuinely conflicted with my emotions by the end of the book.

Great world-building! I was *really* into this (read: 5 stars) until the last 20 pages! I'm very torn about how to feel rn.
I really enjoyed this - it was a strong and amazing retelling, always difficult to do with a story we know *so well*
It fit into the original story well but expanded it and improved it beautifully - I love that the author chose to not make Alyce beautiful; that they played on the fact Aurora had no idea what she actually looked like thanks to magic use she had no say in. It was a throwaway line that had a huge impact on me whilst reading. The slow giving away of power to men, the authentic idiocy of two young people suddenly trying to take over a kingdom and failing; the triumphant end for Alyce not getting what she wanted, but probably what she needed for her own journey.
I do wish though - not that I’m rating it less for this wish because it’s not impacting the book at all really - that it had just been a fade to black. It was a beautifully written scene and fit the book well; I just feel the rest of this book is so suited for a wide audience without being written in a way that feels like it’s trying to be (I hope that makes sense) and I know so many people I’d love to recommend this book to who are young and need more lgbtq+ rep in their books (I wish I’d had it); but I can’t recommend it as there’s a sex scene and they’re a bit young yet.
