3.5 ⭐️ enjoyable - the romance was beautiful and what actually kept me reading. However, the writing style was not for me - I found the book to be very slow-paced and the plot very predictable.

Oh how I loved this one, a much needed breath of fresh air. Cannot wait to read Misrule

YES YES YES ,
This book is a beautiful sapphic retelling of sleeping beauty where we see the story from the villions side. You feel as the character feels and reason like them. It's so good omg. Can't wait for the sequel

Romance feels a little subplot, but it made it more exciting to see! The relationship between Alyce and Aurora was beautiful. It is quite slowburn but the build-up is fantastic. So many plot-twists!

I needed a few days to process this. If it weren’t for the ending, this would have been five stars and my favorite thing I’ve read all year - but the author throws all of her incredible world-building away and goes the way of Game of Thrones at the end. The third act throws twists and betrayals out of left field, and while it’s nice for expectations to be subverted, this was more a “haha fuck you for having hope” situation, for seemingly no reason other than to let the protagonist go apeshit.

Let LGBT characters have happy endings, goddamnit.

This was so much fun. I am absolutely fascinated by the world of the Graces. And I fucking love Alyce. It definitely kind of hobbled along for the first 100 or so pages, but when it amped up, IT AMPED UP. Alice is yet another prickly heroine for me to love, but with her, you have the added worry about where her story is going to end.

I loved the twists on the original Sleeping Beauty fairy tale and I cannot wait for book 2!!!
