Good fluff for when you need fluff... which is all the time for me.

As usual, not a perfect book, but it remains one of my favorites

I would really like to give this 2.5 stars. It was a pretty good story although a little creepy. I could almost guess what was going to happen.

Well, I loved "Bet Me", so I thought I would try this one over the Memorial Day long weekend. I don't think it was nearly as successful. I liked our battling couple, Andie and North, and I liked the 2 children they are responsible for, Alice and Carter, but the whole weird house full of weird ghosts just didn't do it for me.

Jennifer Crusie is one of my favorite authors and I applaud her stretching the limits with this ghost story. Andie and North have been divorced for ten years and just when Andie is ready to marry someone else, North asks her to help taking care of two children recently brought under his care. The children are living in a haunted house and the ghosts there refuse to let them leave.

The characters were enjoyable, the ghost story creepy, and the romance satisfying, even if it wasn't the central story. I enjoyed the humor in the seance scenes.

It was funny and intricate and delightful, and the characters were weird and I cared about all of them, even the assholes! Also I didn't know it was a supernatural romance going in, so it was a pleasant surprise at how well and creepily those elements wound into into the plot. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK.

This book has love, ghosts, mystery, witty dialogue, and tons of humor. A book that I couldn’t put down, so it was a quick read!

Read this in an afternoon - it's a very quick read. It had Crusie's trademark wit and dialogue, which was great, and I enjoyed the romance, but there were a couple of things that bumped the rating down for me (spoilers!)

One, the soon-to-be-ex fiance seemed perfectly nice, and a good guy, and then suddenly wasn't. I was missing a bit of continuity there. Two, there were 2 kids, who had both experienced trauma, but the lead character (and therefore the author) focused all her energy on the girl, who was the youngest. Another character called the main character out on this, but it was still annoying. And three, I was tired of the ghosts when it got to the point where everyone basically had to believe in them.

Which makes it sound like I didn't like the book, and I did! I was just a bit annoyed by the time I hit the end.

I really enjoyed this one! It was kinda kooky with the ghost stuff, but I liked it! Also, the whole 2/3 of the book, the two love interests only met once for about 10 minutes and then had a couple of phone calls, so it wasn't typical in that respect. It should have been super gothic with the subject matter, but it was lighter than that. I liked it.
