Thus was interesting and I read it fairly quickly but not what I was expecting. It was creepy but not horror enough for me. Definitely a solid read though.
This was a fun horror mystery with an outrageous premise, although I think it might have oversold on the idea of this remote island repeating every day as if they were in 1980s, since it was more, a story of a brother's feeling of responsibility and regret over his relationship with his missing sister.

With a title like Dead Eleven and being labeled as horror at my local library I thought this was going to be a horror novel. Wrong. The tension doesn't tense, the creeps aren't creepy and there isn't an eerie atmosphere in sight. While I didn't find it horrific in the literary sense, it is tragic, a pathos of grief.
I think that is the reason I didn't DNF it. My mother died a year and a half ago and I started reading this a few days after her birthday when the grief was poking at me. So this novel did give me something to think about. Which admittedly is a cornerstone of a successful novel. However the simplicity of the writing, the needlessly long page count and the lack of an enjoyable plot are too much too overcome.

Dead Eleven is a story about grief disguised as a thriller. It's a bit slow moving, and might have been a better novella.
