What does one say about a book that has left them at a loss for words?

This story started with young academic Pippa who had a love for learning, a love for true crime and ultimately a love for truth. We see her as she tries to unearth the mysterious disappearance of Andie Bell and attempt to prove Sal Singh’s innocence, with help from Sal’s younger brother Ravi.

I would have loved to see more about Pippa’s personal life and have more on certain characters like Ravi or the Ward family but overall I really enjoyed the partners-in-crime dynamic between Pippa and Ravi and looked forward to every interaction between them.

This book made me laugh, it made me cry, it made me shake with anxiety. But it also made me have hope. Have hope in Pippa and Ravi and, above all, have hope in Sal.

Good mystery. Just when I thought I had it all figured out there’s a twist. Pip is a senior in high school. In Fairview HS the seniors have a Senior Capstone Project and Pip has decided to go big, she’s planning to solve a 5 year old crime. Five years ago a girl, Andi Bell disappeared and her boyfriend, Sal who committed suicide, was the prime suspect, but Pip never believed that Sal could have committed the crime. She’s taking on the case to clear his name.

A solid YA novel, this book follows Pippa as she completes a murder investigation for her senior project. The twist at the end is unexpected but Pip makes some very dumb choices to get to the unveiling of the murderer. Some bits of the story are unbelievable — particularly the interviews Pip holds with potential suspects where she does everything but outright ask if they murdered Andie. If they were the murderer, what makes Pip think they wouldn’t hurt her too? Hard to tell. Maybe that’s just teenage invincibility? Either way, this book was fun and fast-paced and I couldn’t help but love the characters even when they were making dumb choices.

I really enjoyed this book! The first section was a little slow however when it really started going it was actually quite tense. I had no idea where the ending was going so I read it in about 8 hours. The layout of the book was really unique as you have some sections in normal story format, some in the characters personal notes for her project and then other extra bits like interview transcripts, this really helped me immerse into the story. I loved the two main characters Pip and Ravi and I didn't find their dialogue over the top like in some YA books. Overall it is a very strong book and I'm excited to read the sequel
