Strong and unusual premise and fairly striking artwork should add up to a thoroughly satisfying collection but this falls a bit short. Why? Perhaps there are too many characters will ill-defined motivations and a plot that for sure only makes sense if you squint at it (the villains in the piece are murky - Ragnarok for what?). I'd revisit if this was supernatural capers- It's like the X-Files, sometimes the stand alones are way better than the continuing story arc.

I received an ecopy from the publishers and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I was going to give it a 3 star rating. It didn't capture me and I wasn't a huge fan of the art (I bought this volume in a shrink wrap, didn't know what the art would be like).

But towards the end, around the sketches, I noticed that the art wasn't that sexed up like some comics can be. It was actually a little more realistic (as much as you can get with a fantasy comic). And I liked those bonus stories at the end.

So 4 star it is.

*I picked this graphic novel up on Net Galley*

This was a good read. Interesting universe, a really gritty art style and a few good twists meant that this was really enjoyable. I will be keeping an eye out for a volume 2 :)

Un Supernatural en su momento Men of Letters pero con más desprecio por la ciencia. Una gran idea, bien ejecutada pero que deja con muchísimo saber a poco por todo lo que podría haber sido.

Mythic Lore Services is a company that solves the problems of supernatural beings in the world. Waterson is the leader. He is immortal, and has been around for thousands of years. Waterson, Nate, and Cassandra are one of the teams that work for Mythic, but when a bunch of robots start destroying the world, they end up being the only team left. This first volume covers them fighting off a variety of mythical creature.

The premise of this graphic novel was so interesting. I love mythology. I like how mythical creatures are brought into the real world in this story.

At times, I found the story and pictures confusing. There were so many different sides to the fight, from the Mythic team to the mythical creatures to the robots. There were many fight scenes where the explosions made it unclear what exactly was happening. Also, each issue in the volume followed a different creature attacking the earth, so by the time I figured out who one character was, they were gone.

The ending of this graphic novel was very good. It was a bit of a cliffhanger and now I want to go find out what happens next!

I liked the inclusion of norse mythology, gods and machines and the front cover. But I don't think this will be a series I'll continue in the future.
