Easily the best biography I have ever read. I am a history buff but knew very little about all of what Hamilton had done. Chernow has honestly made all the people in this book come to life like no other author I have read. I will be checking out his other works and hope that they are told in the manner, but I am afraid all other historical biographies will feel like text books compared to this one.

It took me a bit to get into, but I'm glad I stuck with it. Really fascinating story of a founding father I don't know much about. After reading (and loving) David McCullough's John Adams, it was interesting to read this and get another perspective on Thomas Jefferson and George washington, to name a few. Very interesting man who did SO much in the founding years of this country. Pretty amazing and inspiring. Now I'm ready to watch the musical!

If I am to be completely honest, the only reason I chose to read this book in the first place was because of the musical. Once I started it, however, I couldn't stop. Chernow expertly shapes the life of Alexander Hamilton into a detail-rich narrative that captures readers from the first page. He illustrates Hamilton's gusto, cockiness, and compassion beautifully, allowing the reader to live the events alongside him.
It is a must-read for all!
