This is the first book in the Poplar Falls companion series and it was the perfect introduction to a new cast of characters. I think starting with Sophie and Braxton was honestly the perfect choice and I can't wait to see where else this series goes.
Sophie hasn't seen her father or been home to Poplar Falls in a really long time, and honestly had no plans to ever return. But one phone call changes everything. Now she's returning to a family that she knows if different and a father she hasn't talked to in well over a decade. She's there for one reason, and one reason only, and falling in love isn't it. But Braxton Young might be making her through that plan out the window as well. Getting answers to her long thought questions might be the best thing to ever happen to her, or it might be the worst.
I really love the way Sophie and Braxton's relationship developed throughout the story. The banter between them at the start was really quite fun. I also love that Braxton really never pushed Sophie when it came to her relationship with her father. It would have been an easy plot device to use to create tension between them, but I love that it wasn't used and that Braxton just understood what Sophie needed. I loved the family dynamics between everyone and I liked that there was a decent amount of the story focused on those relationships.
I did tandem read this one and while the audio wasn't a great match for me, I still really enjoyed this story and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys the following.
✔️ Opposites Attract
✔️ Return to Hometown
✔️ Messy Family Tree
✔️ Small Town
✔️ First Person Dual POV
