nina is shocked to learn her father’s bad business deal has led to her hand in marriage being offered to the pakhan of the russian bratva. even more surprising is that the pakhan isn’t old, but close to her age and actually quite attractive. to maintain his hold of his power, roman’s only options were to either regain his walking abilities or find a wife. with the outlook of his physical condition following an attack not looking too good, he takes the latter offer, and is pleased to learn that this arrangement just might turn into something real.
now, i don’t read tons of mafia romances, so maybe they’re all like this, but i thought that this was one that you definitely have to suspend your disbelief for. of course, there was the overarching plot of being sold to the mafia boss who’s actually kind of a sweetheart, but there were also several little things that i had to not take too seriously, either. still, i mostly enjoyed this book! i liked how roman’s disability was portrayed, from the frustration he felt wanting to “go back to normal” to nina’s care for him when he was in more pain than normal. these parts were so sweet!
i put the second book on my tbr, and while i’m not in a rush to read it, i can see myself picking it up when i want a quick, romantic read.

i dont remember their names, i think ronan or roman was his name and hers was something that begins with a n. anyway, they had a total of no chemistry.
