My favourite part of this whole book is: When I’m sure she’s sleeping soundly, I take her small hand from my chest and place a kiss on the tips of her fingers. “I will be killing anyone who dares to hurt you,” I whisper. “I will just make sure you don’t find out next time.”
This is the best ‘touch her and die’ I’ve ever read in this genre, plus there’s (though dubious) disability representation, understanding of consent, and an impressive lack of misogyny. Again, within the confines of this genre, colour me pretty bloody impressed.
At about the 50% mark, the story descended into total silly nonsense land and I just resigned myself to enjoying the ride because the first half didn’t make me want to pull all my hair out. It was…frankly a pretty wholesome mafia story which means, of course, that it’s wildly unrealistic but dude, they ALL are.
At one point, Nina’s mum is like your dad wouldn’t kill for me boohoo and Nina is like…yes, and?

Roman cocks his head to the side, observing me with interest, and then leans in to whisper in my ear. “You, Nina Grey, are one strange woman.”
“At that moment Nina raises her head, our gazes connect, and she smiles at me. It’s like the sun had suddenly broken through the dark clouds, hitting me with its warmth, and I find myself wishing that this was real and not just an act.”
“That six-month deal? It’s off, Nina,” I say and squeeze her waist. “I don’t care what we agreed. You are mine now and I am not letting you go. Ever.”
Espero no decepcionarme... tanto.
“I love you. I can’t bear the thought of you getting hurt. You will end this fucking war you have started, you hear me? I don’t care how you do it, but end it, or so help me God, I’m going to kill you myself.”
Very wattpad—This felt like this was written in a different language and just google translated…can’t explain it but very 1 dimensional.

Would be 5 if not for the third act break up. I mean, come on, it could’ve been predicted by her that he’d kill the one that hurt her!

Guys what the actual hell. In love by chapter 10, an outrageous & useless 3rd act breakup, horribly cringe dialogue, ‘I’m so small and tiny’ & an emo fmc all in one book? HARD pass.
