This book is very captivating and interesting to read. And I love history too much for words so it's very interesting, for that reason too. I recommend this to anybody looking for good literature!

I couldn't get past the voice of this book. I couldn't finish it because I just didn't care about the characters.

I have read so much about Cleopatra because she is one of my favorite historical women. But everything I have read is based on her as an adult. It was nice reading something from her as a child. I adore her voice and the way she described things and what was happening to her. The author did meticulous research and opened up another aspect of Cleopatra. She was such a prominent figure in history. Seeing a different side is always refreshing.

Loved this as a kid.

I read SO MANY of these. Looove.

I would like to first stipulate I read this in audiobook form. First, I had a lot of problems with the narrator chosen, she was extremely unconvincing and sounded almost robotic at parts. Second, the biggest problem with the narrator was that she was very obviously at least two-three times the age of what Cleopatra was being portrayed as and her accent was very unfitting of what I expected. Onto the actual issues I had with the book. I really wanted more from this book, the epilogue was really the most interesting part to me, which is rather sad to admit. I felt this "Diary" was really lacking any real action - obviously limited historical context is available on this period in Cleopatra's life - and attempted to make up for it by being repetitive and choosing odd sections to go into extreme detail.
informative lighthearted fast-paced

It’s definitely written more simply probably to appeal to a younger audience. Not really graphic at all, only passing mentions of terrible things that happened in Cleopatra’s time. Overall, cleopatra is a girl boss. That’s all I will say.

2.5. I was a little bored by this one. I realize there's a deficit of non-biased historical information about Cleopatra, but the barest research into Rome would show that only male Roman citizens were allowed to wear togas. The only women who wore them were adulteresses and prostitutes. Unless they were making Cleopatra the unknowing butt of a rude joke here...

If you're looking for a much more interesting, in depth and better researched and accurate look at Cleopatra, read Cleopatra: A Life, by Stacy Schiff.

Fun and quick read about what Cleopatra's teenage years might have looked like. I've always loved reading about ancient Egypt.
