I got this one for free from a banned book charity and oh my god conservatives are such snowflakes. I was expecting this to be pretty gay if it’s been banned but no the only ‘controversial’ thing is the main character alludes to maybe liking another boy more than a friend smh.

I normally don’t vibe with YA fiction and at times this was no exception but overall… I liked it. Learned a bit about Persian culture but other than that there’s not a ton to make me think about this book in the future. Definitely the kind of book I’d want my kids to read if not for me.

I really enjoyed Darius's tone and how he put things in his own words. So often it feels like authors state that their main characters are nerds, but Khorram shows it with how Dairus categorizes things. This book made me cry with the realness of his mental illness and his relationship with his dad.

idk if this is translation thing or ya thing or just me thing but I couldn't connect with this at all, sadly, since I have second book as well.
