Wow! this book put me through a emotional ringer. Darius's story of family, friendship, and living with clinical depression is one everyone should read. What really resonated with me was Darius meeting his mother's family in Iran, getting to know them and finding his place.

I love how we get to learn about Iran and how the relation and language work through this book and how it might be hard to be a teenager with depression caught between two cultures.

This book lays bare why representation matters, at least it did that to me personally. Despite not having the same cultural background, the complexities of the main character's identity and how it permeates his individual and shared experiences truly hit close to home, so much so that it made be ugly cry by the end. 10/10, would recommend.
