it was good. the magical world obviously had some similarities with harry potter but i liked how she twisted it to make it different/original. i loved the characters (especially baz) but i felt that the romance was kinda forced on simon’s side idk. that’s the reason why i’m giving it 4 stars and not 5.

AHHHH! I LOVED IT! I demand a sequel right now! I am so stoked that Wayward Son is coming out 24th of September! Yes, many reviews do state that it is a rip-off of Harry Potter. Although I admit that some parts are quite similar, I HAVE to refute this claim! The beautiful characters in this book are uniquely themselves. The awkward Simon, the tortured Baz, the beautiful Agatha and the know-it-all Penelope (a bit of a resemblance to Hermione) WILL capture your heart and soul. This is my third time reading it and I never get tired of their shenanigans. When I picked up this book, the blurb did hint at some kind of romance. However, I was still HAPPILY surprised! Honestly, MY HEART!! Rainbow, you have done it again!!!! PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE, go read this book, I PROMISE you won't regret it!

I am so glad that I can say that I’ve FINALLY read this. Fangirl is like my ultimate favorite contemporary so the fact that this was the fan fiction from it turned into an actual novel you’d think I’d have read this like immediately. I hate that it took me forever to actually pick this up. I will just say I was nervous to actually read it but after my last reread of Fangirl I said, fuck it. I’m ready for this.
I’ve got to say I LOVED this. I wish I could give it the extra quarter star but the first like 50 pages reminded me WAY too much of Harry Potter and it took awhile to get through them but I’m glad I pushed past because I absolutely loved it.
Yes, it’s got hints toward Harry Potter sure. But Rainbow Rowell really created a different story with this. We see such an interesting story and such great characters and I just really loved this.
I swoon for Simon and Baz. SWOON. I just can’t with the cuteness overload.
I’m very glad this got to be my first read of 2019. And I’m so excited to see what Wayward Son is going to bring to this! I want a release date!!
