The FMC is annoying AF!!! I don’t even care to find out how they beat the Red mist. I’ll go read some spoilers online. At least then I don’t have to read about Isolde complaining about every other thing that Adrian does.

I'm very very torn between loving and hating this book!

This book seemed to lose the strong plot it has in the first book until it came to the end and it threw everything at you, for me the book followed a pattern
Something bad happens, they fight, they have sex. It felt very rinse and repeat which was really unfortunate

There was no point where I actually wanted to stop reading the book which surprised me.
am I still invested? For some reason but I don't understand why.

The author admits to rushing to write this book in 4 weeks and honestly you can tell and it's really disappointing.

I really, really enjoyed King of Battle and Blood. It was a great spicy, romantasy that had a fine balance of smut and some decent substance. Queen of Myth and Monsters is in comparison a disappointing combination of ‘second book syndrome’ and the ‘author wrote this in a month’.

All Isolde and Adrian did was fight and have sex, fight, sex, more fighting and more sex. Most of the time, simultaneously. Which the first time is hot, and then after the 10th in one book, is boring. And it’s sad when the filthy things coming out of their mouths is boring.

The romance wasn’t great. They never listened to each other. For two people that were so desperate to find each other through lifetimes, didn’t really appreciate each other outside of sex.

The characters were missing their spark. The supporting characters included.

And the plot? Not that I read this for the plot but I think it had truly had some potential that was overwhelmed by the fighting and fucking. The pacing was off dragging it down further.

So all in all, a very disappointing read. But I finished it!

Liked it but didn’t love it. The first one gave us much more in terms of pacing and plot. No questions were really answered, not even one the big conflicts from the other book was dealt with only a new one.

Not much happened in terms of plot even at the ending these books feel like the author waits to the end to give it all that once but the ending wasn’t satisfying for the plot nor relationship of the two or even as a book.

Extra spicy this time around though I would have enjoyed it more if Adrian and Isolde weren’t fight ever two chapters. It got to repetitive for me.

It’s sad cause I loved this first book but this one I was saying to myself “I just want to finish this”. The book didn’t need to be that long as there wasn’t anything but fights and fucking to fill the pages in the middle.

I hope the next book will be better as I really like this series and Adrian and Isolde. It’s just sad cause I was really looking forward for the plot questions to be answers and conflict to be battled. Essentially their relationship to grow but all of it barely went anywhere.

Can’t wait to see what the next book gives us! I know I’ll be waiting for that pre-order button!
slow-paced

I couldn’t finish it :/ it’s a DNR for me but in fairness vampires have never been my most favourite of fantasy genres but I just couldn’t get behind the story or the chemistry between the leads
