This is the second time I've read this book, I initially read it as a teenager and really hoped that as an adult I'd like it better and see what everyone else sees, but I just don't. I was so bored reading this book.
I find the characters and the story both to be completely forgettable. There were moments when I got a glimpse of world-building that I would have liked to see more of, but that never really happened. I even googled why people like this book so much, and it sounds like it's a combination of the prose and eastern Taoist philosophy. I can see those arguments, but as someone who just reads for the story I really did not enjoy this book.

Oh, I am in. I am about to knock this whole series out in the coming weeks, so get ready.
This is wizardry that makes sense and is void of fluff. Archmages do not have time to trifle with courting mates or playing broom rugby. No, in this world, there are omnipresent threats that leave little time for relaxation or celebration. The whole book was tense and was pure adrenaline as a result. Urusla Le Guin can build quite a world in 200 pages.
I did not love Ged, but I rooted for the boy. He is still not even 20 years of age so, maybe in time, I will come to respect the chap. But he is tolerable despite his early misdeeds because he undergoes a universal journey that we all must face at some point: What does it take to know oneself?
Though I am not much of a fantasy reader, I am ready to immerse myself in this realm. I am ready to become elevated and jaded in the fiction of magic and wizards, looking down on the world of Harry Potter for no reason except that it is controversial to do so.
