Gravity is a good story with gorgeous writing about a beautiful romance. It rhapsodizes the game of hockey in a way that’s poetic and all-encompassing, making it impossible for readers to misunderstand the impact and importance of what’s happening on and off the ice. As a lifelong hockey fan, I really enjoyed reading about a sport I love, and this book goes a long way toward conveying how hockey is another true love for those who play.
Unfortunately the action on the ice was really the highlight for me. Bryce and Hunter’s easy friendship and connection was fun to experience, but I found many of the romantic elements a bit drawn out and a touch dramatic for my taste. Tal Bauer spends a lot of time intensely building up the emotional connection, but I didn’t find it as fulfilling as I had hoped.
That being said, I appreciated his take on some of the traditional tropes found in MM sports romance: secret romance and sexual awakening. They’re approached in a way that’s sweet and offer some twists that surprise and delight. Fans of Bauer’s other works will undoubtedly be captivated by Gravity.

Hm. This is a tricky one to rate because I actually enjoyed the romance! There were issues with pacing at some points but otherwise I was pretty convinced and enamoured with the love story. But where was the personality? I felt like none of the characters actually had any defining character traits or personality until like 60% in. The injuries were also described in pretty brutal detail like it was actually gruesome at times which I didn’t enjoy. Also the French was insufferable I’m sorry, not a bilingual person in the WORLD talks like that. I would get it if everyone around Bryce also spoke French so it was a bit mingled, but no one understood him? So why speak in French for half your sentences when you’re fluent in English? It made no sense and was really annoying. The phrases weren’t even translated half the time so genuinely I didn’t understand about 25% of what Bryce said because I was reading kindle offline so couldn’t use the translation feature. Okay rant over. All in all, cute book, had some annoying flaws, probably won’t read again but mostly enjoyed the experience of reading it the first time

Super fast-paced romance. They fell in love too fast so it just felt cheesy and kinda lame tbh. I wasn’t invested.
