3.5 stars. Might be upped in the future if I decide to do a reread, because I have a feeling I’d enjoy it more knowing what happens and what doesn’t.
I loved the early parts of the book. The All-Star weekend, with Bryce and Hunter so enamored with each other, wanting to spend every second together but not knowing why. The angst following that kiss. I cried so much, in true Tal Bauer book fashion. And I was so happy for them both when they found their way to each other again eventually.
The writing was beautiful and poignant, also something I’ve come to associate with Tal. Skating on a frozen lake. Sleeping on the store floor. Late nights talking in the hotel stairwell. I enjoyed all of those things, and also the bonds within the team.
The reason why I don’t rate it higher? There are a few. For one thing, I felt like the book dragged at times. I kept getting distracted, which is not a good sign. Then, the overabundance of French. It was distracting and took me out of the moment when I kept having to translate. I don’t know French—I read in English for a reason. I think the translations should have been included in the story, and the amount of French limited to pet names and perhaps a short sentence here and there. Not like this.
Lastly, while the love story was sweet, it spilled over into saccharine territory too much for my tastes. How many love declarations and such can two people say. It reminded me of the early part of The Jock. I guess this book was reminiscent of that in more than one way.
That being said, I did enjoy this. I’m glad Tal is writing more books like this. The cover is so gorgeous too.

4.5 stars for this exquisite love story!
How is it that I always cry on Tal Bauer books? The author has a way with words and storytelling that captivates you and speaks to your soul. And you have no chance but to feel the heartache, the joy, the love, the family feels radiate through the pages.
Gravity is a hockey romance. Storywise it is nothing extraordinary. Two players, Bryce and Hunter, who play on different teams meet at All-stars week and find a soul that is made for their own.
Obviously, it is not that easy, but love always find a way and they end up in a secret but beautiful realtionship. Of course, drama and angst are not to be left out and with a suckerpunch we are hit with dispair and hopelessness which needs to be overcome by love.
As I said, it is not the most original or extraordinary storyline but the author's strength is in the characters and the relationships and all that can be shown through little gestures and honest feelings.
The writing is so breathtakingly beautiful that as a reader you feel every emotion that our two main characters feel. And let me tell you, it is very special when a book can do that to you, take you on an emotional rollercoaster which you cannot escape until the very end.
All in all, Gravity was another heartwrenching love story by Tal Bauer, now in the form of a hockey romance, with almost instant feelings. Great work!

I finished this book in one day. The characters are lovable - not just the main characters, but their teammates and others they encounter too. The book is also beautifully written - the descriptions of pining and angst, the descriptions of their surroundings and their relationship to the sport, all of it. I fell hard for this love story. Is it believable that everyone knew all along and not a single person gave a shit? Not really. But did I love it anyway? You betcha. The only thing that bothers me is that Bryce’s family did not go to the hospital at any point. I don’t care where they lived, based on the way their relationships were described, at least one of them would have rushed there!
