DNF’d at 60% - The hurt emotions and pining in the beginning were great. The writing was pretty. The setup and meet/cute were adorable.
It just felt like something was missing. Like Tal skipped a small, yet crucial, step in the love story… Hunter had a change of heart too quickly and it felt coerced by guilt.
I just didn’t feel like continuing after that.
I love Tal and will continue to read his books. This just didn’t hit for me.

Two hockey players, one already a legend, and a rookie player who worships him, meet in the All-Stars Tournament and find they have an instant connection.
My 3rd read by him and I have fallen in love with how Tal Bauer develops characters and romance. It’s swoony as hell and I love it. There was a lot of intense things happening around these two but it was just so sweet it became…cozy angst? And it’s all very lyrical writing. He’s probably gonna be an auto-read/comfort read author for me now.
I really loved where the name of this book came from. I loved how gob-smacked Hunter is when he first meets Bryce. That whole interaction was adorable. It was a gay-awakening hockey story - tried and true combo but I was sucked right in and couldn’t put it down. Once again, I don’t know flip about hockey and that didn’t bother me at all. Translating all the French didn’t even bother me either. Since he was a French Canadian it felt more authentic for Bryce to think/speak that way and I appreciated the risk taken here. Bryce seemed so wise beyond his years his character seemed older than 26. And I loved how Hunter was caring for Bryce right from the start. The external 3rd act conflict was a total gut punch - this was pretty gruesometraumatic injury, and as a former ICU/trauma nurse, he captured the frantic intensity of the moment so well and did not hold back on graphic detail
I can see how some people could find this to be over the top sweet but I loved it and was all in with these two.

Another great read from Tal Bauer!
I have laughed, I have cried (for ten minutes straight), I have giggled and kicked my feet for other parts.
Bryce & Hunter were so cute.
And the epilogue was parfait!!

This was nice soft read. Cried several times but that’s not a surprise. Only thing that sometimes bothered me as someone who doesn’t speak a worth French, that when I was completely involved and lost in the read, I had to go and translate a sentence or two. Not sure if I was annoyed at me not speaking a word French even though it sounds so beautiful, or if there wasn’t a translation.
Still a real nice read!

This Book made me go through but the whole spectrum of emotions, the most tender and cute romance I have read in a long time, their love is so pure and perfect, I just want to protect them, and then it almost destroyed me when Bryce had the accident I thought he was dying and they hadn't said I love you and this was a tragedy and no happy ending, so I cried too much, but everything turned out fine and I cried more, so much that I had to stop reading. please read this book.
