I recently discovered that Lord John had his own books. When I went to the author's website, I saw where these were intertwined into the Outlander books. So I've been reading them in order.
I'm finding that these books are taking me a bit to get through. They are written well, but I'm missing something with these so far.
The case was intriguing, but this one was just too overly complicated I thought. Too much going on and I felt like I was losing track of things happening.
I'm hoping they get better as we go along but we shall see.

I'm a fan of Lord John Grey in the Outlander novels and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this novel which was told entirely from his POV. The story had a very Sherlock Holmes feel about it, which I really liked since I'm a fan of Holmes and smart mysteries. Gabaldon impressed me again as a writer; while the subject matter and genre were very different from her Outlander novels, her skills as a writer were still exhibited magnificently. I'm looking forward to continuing my read of the other LJG stories. Solid 4 stars for me.
