This is definitely the best book in the series so far (even though I’m giving this the same rating as books one and three). It has what is definitely the best plot of the series so far. I really loved having everyone together, including Sam and Sarah (FINALLY!), learning of each other’s journeys before then, bonding and getting to know each, and finally coming together to train and beat the Mogadorians. This has been built up for so long, and now that we’ve finally gotten to that point, the payoff is so sweet and satisfying. I particularly liked seeing Sam again, since he seemed to have gotten forgotten in most of the previous book, so it was good to see him in the story again and okay, and finally finding his father. I loved seeing the relationship between him and his father because the development of their relationship is great, we finally see this major plot point pay off and and come into play, and it fits really well into the story. I also just love Malcolm as a character for similar reasons: his characterization and his role in the story, as well as his backstory. So far, he’s shaped up to be an interesting and likeable character. The book couldn’t decide which one it wanted him to be, or at least pretend to be, so it tried out both to no avail. The book also, again, just goes and drops the whole thing with John, Sarah, and Six. Again, I’m glad that I don’t have to worry about John and Six becoming a thing, but the book just goes and makes it seem like the ramifications will be big to the plot, but they just forget about it. John is all in for Sarah, because he definitely has always only had it for her, and now Sam and Six are becoming a thing. If they were going to write these relationships, what was the point of the previous, big, awful love triangle? Now that that’s out of the way, I have some more positives. I liked how fast-paced the story was. It didn’t go so fast, it felt like it was just zooming past everything to get through it. It felt like it was skipping at a moderately fast pace from one event to the other. It worked well for this particular type of story, and helped make the story more engrossing. It was very easy for me to read over a hundred pages in one sitting, interested and sucked in the entire time. It also managed to keep me interested for all of the story even though there were comparably less plot relevant events, and more fluff rather than a fight every 10 pages. This book has the perfect balance of plot relevance and episodic events, and it made the book more fun and enjoyable. The ending was also crazy! It leaves so much more than can happen in one of the most insane ways possible, and I for one, can’t wait to see how it will continue like this. It feels like the beginning of the endgame with all of the crazy stuff that happens. Overall, this was a satisfying continuation that leaves more me more excited than ever to find out what happens next in the series.

This is where I stopped last time I think. Which is pretty valid of past me. This shit is infuriating

By far the best book in this series! I am so sad with some of the choices in the story line but it made for a wonderful plot and I can't wait for the next one to have four kick some serious ass!
