The only word I can think of at this moment, awesome.

Carrie Jones has a way that her stories carry me through the book like I am really there.

Awesome!

Honestly, this might be the best on so far. I'm glad that I finally went back to finish the series. One left!

Entice starts off right after Captivate where Zara’s friends are still struggling to accept that she is a good pixie and Zara is determined to rescue Nick from Valhalla.

This is basically about Zara learning about Valhalla and Norse mythology to find a way to rescue Nick both for her and as the defender of Bedford. At the same time Zara worries whether Nick will even accept her as a pixie. Also Frank and his evil pixies are terrorising the town and are kidnapping boys for their needs, and Zara plus friends have to help protect everyone.

One down side is the lack of Nick in this book although he does influence everything in this book. There are plenty of plot twists and turns and you do not know what will happen next.

What I love about this series is the relationships between the characters, especially Betty and Zara relationship, and how Betty overcomes her resentment of pixies because of Zara. I also like the friendship between Astley and Zara and how they are both there for each other when they need help.

Even though I love this book it is a bit of a filler between Captivate and Endure. However it is still a very enticing read and I would recommend for those who have the rest of the series of if you like YA paranormal books.

THE TWEET
ENTICE, the third novel in the NEED series is an action packed read that follows Zara and Astley as they try to rescue Nick from Valhalla.

WHAT WORKED
The book picks up right where CAPTIVATE, the previous book, ends. Zara's boyfriend, Nick, has been killed and carried off to Valhalla by the Valkyrie, Thruth. In order to save Nick, Zara allows Astley to pixie kiss her, thus turning her into a pixie and making her Astley's queen. (I'll refrain from explaining more because I don't want to ruin the previous novels for those who have not read them.)

What I liked best about ENTICE was the development of Astley's character. Astley becomes a major part of the plot in ENTICE. And not just because he is helping Zara to find Valhalla and Nick. Parts of Astley's past are revealed through interactions with his mother. Jones really made Astley's character more relatable by showing his emotions towards his mother and the way he was raised as a child. Astley's very human feelings towards his mother endeared me more to his character, despite him being a pixie and technically a "bad guy." The development of Astley's character also made me more willing to accept Zara's changing feelings towards him. I'm not a big fan of the romance triangle that seems to be the formulaic trend in paranormal young adult novels recently. But, in ENTICE, this is well played and really brings another dimension to the book.

ENTICE also introduces more Norse myth and lore about the pixies themselves. I really enjoyed this inclusion. One of the reasons I love reading so much is learning about cultures, peoples and practices I am not familiar with. Despite this being a fantasy novel, the obvious research Jones put into writing ENTICE makes it more believable and realistic.

OVERALL
ENTICE is a great addition to the Need series. Carrie Jones has written a great fantasy novel that captured this reader's attention and didn't let go until the last page. I am very much looking forward to reading the final novel and to finding out how Zara, Nick and Astley's stories end.

Originally reviewed on my blog: SIK Book Reviews

Story/Plot: The plot development in this story is good and interesting. There were some moments, however, that I found myself a bit bored...like the story got a bit dull for my liking. But, for the most part, I was interested in the story and wanted to keep reading. One thing that really bothers me is that I feel that things/ideas in this series are not fully explained. If I were Zara (the narrator), I would be asking waaaay more questions. It seems like the narrator is content with merely knowing basic facts, with no further explanations needed. This bothers me...I constantly find myself craving more information. For example, after reading the third book in the series, I still feel as though I barely know anything about pixies, and yet the narrator is a pixie! What's up with that??

Characters: The characters are mostly the same in this novel as the previous two, minus one main character...which you know if you read Captivate. There is a sense of a possible love triangle blooming, which typically I don't like. But, it is very subtle and I won't say if anything is actually going to come of it. The love triangle is also done a bit differently than normal, as one angle of the triangle is not around.

Writing: Writing style is still not satisfactory to me...it's still a bit weak. However, I am finding less and less mistakes and I am able to become enveloped by the story, which is good.

Uniqueness/Creativity: The creativity and uniqueness is about on par with Captivate. Some aspects I am impressed with, others not so much.

Overall: I don't think I've mentioned anything yet about the covers of these books in either of my previous reviews of the first two books of the series. So, I figured I should comment on them now. I love the covers. I think they are are all beautiful and make me interested in reading the books. However, the covers are a bit deceiving...I would say that the covers are overall more interesting than the actual story. Not that the stories aren't good, just not my favourite. I love the covers though. Overall, this book was decent. It held my interest. But, again, the writing quality is not up to par with what I expect from an experienced writer.
