I almost didn't do a review, because pretty much everything that could be said about this book, has already been said.

This is one of the few books that had me laughing out loud while I was reading it. If you want a fun read, you can't go wrong with this one.

A lot of people really love this series, so I went in with rather high expectations.
It was enjoyable, but I didn't love it. The characters were interesting but I never really found myself forming any strong attachments to them. Maybe this will change as the series goes on.
Also, the resolution to the story felt a little too easy for what it was built up to be.
Perhaps my expectations were too high, and that is why it didn't captivate me as much as it does other people. It is enjoyable enough, so I'll continue on with the series, we'll see what I think by the end.

Really enjoyed this. Def an adult book, not one that crosses over with other age groups. The descriptions of food stand out as very well written. Lots of violence and very graphic in a few places, but doesn't feel out of place or overwhelming (with one possible exception, but I think it's personal taste).  The interludes are a little distracting, but Lynch handles them well and most of the time I ended up appreciating them for what they added to the main plot.

Before you start pelting me with garbage - please, let me explain. I started this book nearly a month ago, I'm not even halfway through, and I don't think I need to put this much effort into a book I know isn't going to exceed three stars. There's nothing inherently wrong with it, it's just not my kind of fantasy, I'm bored, and I dread picking it back up each time. Time to move on!

AFTER ALL THESE YEARS

Yeah, fuck, the plot twists in this one are as exciting as everyone had told me. The swearing is colorful (I have latched on to "Eat hemp and shit rope" in particular), the characters are distinct and endearing, and the story constantly keeps you on your toes as to who's got the upper hand. I haven't read a book this meaty in... a while, so I did feel like the story lagged in places, but even when the perspective would switch to the past or to other narratives it still remained interesting and relevant. I'm clenching my ass so hard for more Sabetha lore especially, considering how much of it got teased in the book.
