Book Review - Lights Out
emotional funny hopeful inspiring lighthearted relaxing fast-paced
Strong character development: Complicated
Loveable characters: Yes

This book was incredible! Not only was it Kayla’s debut novel, which is mind blowing to me, but it has a female F1 driver. I haven’t seen many other F1 books where the FMC is the racer, and I really enjoyed how different this story was. It definitely sets itself apart from other F1 romances!

Kayla did an amazing job being accurate and informative of the sport, while still making the story interesting. I especially loved the glossary of F1 terms at the beginning of the book. The way she wrote the characters and the scenes between them was beautiful. You could feel the emotions through the words and the chemistry between Blake and Ryder was off the charts! And the spice was *Chef's kiss*!! While the story was about Blake and Ryder, I absolutely fell in love with the side characters. They were funny & intriguing, and I am definitely rooting for a particular match up!

After reading Lights Out, I will for sure be reading more from Kayla and can't wait to see what she has in store for the future!

Thank you Kayla and Love Notes PR for the arc opportunity!

A cute little read but I guess I like the drama because I just couldn’t fully bring myself to rate higher. It does what it’s supposed to do and the writing is good but it just felt too insta love where the male character out of nowhere falls for a girl he barely knows and she’s driving his metaphorical demons away. Again, it was cute and fun to read (the last few chapters did feel dragged out though).

Whenever I see a book start with a playlist I know it’s gonna be the corniest thing to ever exist. I just wish it was corny and fun but just full of cliches. I didn’t buy into the romance, why why why must they be married in like two months?? I was excited to read about the races but she skips them entirely.
Book meh. Playlist?? Even worse.

This was a cute read! I really enjoyed it and loved how relatable the FMC was. I also loved the female relationships in this!! I'm always here for strong female friendships. I did find one plot line a little much and unnecessary, but understand why others loved it. I also wish that we got more race scenes, those are the part of F1 romances that I love! Overall, really enjoyed this!
