4.5 stars!!
i grew up around racing, a little bit of Formula 1 but lots and lots of nascar nonetheless so i personally already have an interest in any sort of racing. I love that there were fun little excerpts from a podcast and also different interviews. I loved Cassie and am really hoping she gets a book!?!? (

6.86 on CAWPILE, which would be a 3.5 if GoodReads let us do those.
I had a good time with this, which surprised me a lot as I'm not a romance reader, but I am an f1 fan. I think what brought the rating down for me here was the writing and logic, there were a lot of conveniences, things just immediately being told to us that didn't help build the bigger picture and didn't always make the most sense, and a good number of typos, which bugged me every time.
That being said though, I did end up loving these characters and had a really fun time. This is a great definition of a cheeseburger book for me. It was fun, it was tasty, it was enjoyable, if not technically the best meal out there.

I loved this book!
I will start by saying, I know nothing about Formula 1, so if this book got the sport stuff wrong, go argue with the wall, not me.
Blake being a rookie with only 8 years of racing (she started when she was 12 when it seems everyone else started at like 5), and being a woman in a male dominated sport, she had a lot to prove, not only to herself but to everyone else.
Ryder, coming back after 2 years off due to an accident, he's also got a lot to prove. Apparently being a four time world champion isn't enough for people to have a little faith.
They're now teammates on a brand new team. Ryder offers to let Blake stay at his house during training season. They stay in a suite when they're traveling. You see where this is going, they're obviously gunna fall in love!
Blake helps Ryder get out of this dark space he's found himself in after his injury and pushing everyone away. Ryder helps Blake get out of her own head and supports her during their first year.
Their relationship was just wonderful. The relationship with their friends was cute. I loved how Kayla James set it up for the future books. There's a lot we don't know about these other characters, and while I have a lot of guesses on who the love interests may be, it's a total toss up!
I need Jace's book NOW please and thank you <3

I received this book as an ARC; I really enjoyed this story, I’ve become a little bit of a F1 fangirl in the last year and having romance book options surrounding it has been awesome.
Blake and Ryder are such a good puzzle piece fit together, they’re like a breath of fresh air. I always appreciate witty banter and James does a good job of establishing naturally flowing conversations. Don’t even get me started about the ensemble of this story, the cast of characters are lovable and funny, I can’t wait for the series to expand!
I also LOVE that we’ve got separate little callouts in the story like podcast transcripts, articles, or interviews woven into the story, it makes the story more tangible but also keeps you engaged. It’s also become a favorite trend of mine for authors to include!
My one critique would be the flow of time was a little fuzzy, I think we just needed a little bit more clarity on how much time has passed between chapters.
The spice was nice too, it wasn’t excessive but I also wasn’t starved for it (lol). The story definitely ends on a warm and fuzzy note and honestly that’s my favorite ❤️
