Rakastin kirjan paikallaan junnaavaa tunnelmaa ja hetkeä pysähtyä miettimään. Janssonin tapa kirjoittaa henkilöhahmoja on loistava ja kirjassa oli paljon alleviivauksen arvoisia sitaatteja, jotka saivat vuorotellaan nauramaan ja itkeskelemään. Ensimmäinen, muttei todellakaan viimeinen Muumi-kirja, jonka luen aikuisena.

Erilaisten persoonien saapuessa muumitaloon hakemaan apua sisäisiin ongelmiinsa he joutuvatkin huomaamaan ratkaisun löytyvän jostain ihan muualta. Syksyinen muumilaakso on virkistävä lukukokemus ja muumikirjojen parhaimmistoa.

Jakie to było... melancholijne. Tym bardziej, że Muminki wyparowały, a kilka osób akurat postanowiło je odwiedzić i musieli się sami odnaleźć w Dolinie Muminków i ich domu.
No i nic już nie będzie, jak dawniej. Bo to ostatnia część opowieści o Muminkach. I już nie powrócą.
Pustka i melancholia są na każdym kroku tej książki. Naprawdę jest to idealna lektura na jesień i aż dziwne, że czytałam ją latem. Ale pół dnia padało i czułam się, jakby była jesień (w lipcu), więc może jednak czas jej czytania był odpowiedni.

Here endeth my study of the Moomins and their fellow creatures. I'll miss them.
A number of creatures feel unsettled and decide to make their ways to Moomin Valley, so as to hang out in a sensible household, i.e. that run my Moominmamma and Moominpappa. But the Moomins are not there. So, the creatures make up a family of their own for a while. Then they begin to drift back off, and so ends the Moomin Saga. Quite a fun series of books.

This is probably my favorite of the Moomin books and it is definitely the darkest and most introspective.
The small orphan Toft, the loud and organizing Hemulen, the worrying Fillyjonk, the cranky Grandpa-Grumble, the Mymble and Snufkin all converge on the Moomin's house, seeking the comfort and warmth of the Moomin family only to find it desrted and the family gone.
As autumn sinks into winter the characters sink into themselves, lost and worried until finally, they find a way to get along and then go their separate ways.
Touching and sad and wonderful.

Jag blev, uppriktigt sagt, lite besviken på det avslutande verket i Muminserien. Boken är vacker men det blir för mig lite konstigt att en massa nya karaktärer kastas in i den sista romanen i en serie där de samspelar utan huvudkaraktärerna från de tidigare verken. Jag saknar Muminfamiljen. Jag förstår att det lite är poängen med verket, men jag är ändå lite besviken. Romanen är ändå vacker och behandlar existentiella frågor med precis den fingertoppskänsla som jag hittills upplevt att bara Tove Jansson klarar av.
