This was the first book by Kasie West that I wasn't wild about. Skimmed the last half. Not every book is going to land with every reader, and this one just didn't land with me.
After reading a few heavy series I decided I want to binge light and fluffy books. Kasie West was one of the authors I chose for this binge because I've enjoyed her books. They're the perfect books for when you just want to kick back and easy something easy and light. I have so much regret about picking this novel. Midway through the book I figured this was one of her first novels or something and brushed it off as she hadn't found her groove yet but was surprised to find it's one of her newer novels.
I don't rate a book one star lightly but I cannot think of a single thing that I enjoyed about this book. I hated all of the characters, the plot made me want to tear my hair out, the main character was insufferable. Everything fell flat. It really felt thrown together. I didn't care for the main ship. I think the fact that the narrator of this book only amplified my dislike for it. I will genuinely never listen to a book narrated by this person again, they were that bad.
Unless you like hating the main character and wishing the book would hurry up and end already I wouldn't recommend this book to you.

This was such a cute lovestory. Kasie’s books always grab me from the first page and this story was no different.
I don’t think there was any conflict whatsoever until the last 50 pages. A stellar last 50 pages, but what about the other 300? I mean, of course I liked this book, I gave it 4 stars. Oh, and a small irrelevant thing that bothered me was Blaire marking quizzes for her teacher. Just saying, I don’t think that’s allowed? And if it was I would not want a random student marking my quiz. Anyway, the “big fight” Blaire, Elise, and Maddie had was very mature I guess. Like they were all mainly supportive and no one was really pointing any fingers. I kinda liked that, except for the fact that it was the biggest fight they had in the whole book. But why I rated it as high as I did: the writing. I feel like Kasie West makes something so simple seem like it’s so important. It makes the whole book seem so worthwhile. It was an enjoyable read, and I never felt bored. I think if anyone else wrote this I wouldn’t feel the same.
This book was so good and I loved it. It was so cool reading about someone who won the lottery. It was just a unique reading experience. Also the romance in this was really cute.
i had to take a few deep breaths for patience and i feel like the romance in this one wasn’t as present as in other kasie west’s books, but it was still cute and worth reading. not going to reread this one, though.
I really wanted to like this. I love the trope--lottery winner--but halfway through I couldn't take any more. We begin with a girl so desperate to get a scholarship that all she does is study, thus setting up her social outcast status. She spouts random trivia and is clearly a bright young woman, but she wins the lottery and becomes TSTL. I get that lottery winners make bad choices, but I just can't reconcile Maddie's actions after winning with the girl I met at the beginning of the story. Maybe that was Ms. West's point, but I just didn't buy it--so much that I couldn't get past it. So this is DNF for me.
That said, loved the audiobook narrator. It's just the story that didn't work for me.
