Lucky in Love? More like: Lucky I'm very glad I didn't buy this book.
1 I don't know how I got through the entire book star!
It’s official. This is the stupidest book I’ve read in my entire existence
Anyway, how would I describe this book in GIF?

How would I describe this book in words?
Terrible, horrible, awful, not good, very bad.
And here I am thinking I've read stupid books, but no this book should get an award for being the stupidest, most lamest book in the history of YA contemporary books.
The plot? Terrible
The idea of the book? Horrible
The characters? Awful
Main character? The worst
What it tried to teach the readers? Not to win lottery.
So, if this book is that bad, then why did I read it?
The cover looked very cute and the synopsis was interesting (I've never read a book where the MC wins the lottery) and most importantly it's by Kasie West (my favorite YA contemprorary author who writes the cutest most fluffiest books). Honestly, what was the author thinking while she wrote this book?
And when I started reading 'Lucky in Love' I needed patience lots and lots of patience and the urge not to throw it. It was a miracle I didn't dnf this book.
The story:
It's about an 18 year teenager called Maddie, after winning the lottery she starts spending it on the most nonsense stuff, everybody started ''liking her'' because now she's a multi millionaire. Her parents started using her, her brother, her best friends, people at her school who didn't even notice her before her big win and now everybody started thinking that she's always been a ''cool girl'', yeah right, Oh, and also even her great uncle whom she had never spoken to. Ridiculous!
Maddie was so trusting, so naive and so very stupid, like how is she the top in her class when she can't even tell who's using her for her money and who's not.
There were zero characters that I cared about, not even 'Seth' who's supposed to be Maddie's love interest. But at least he was somewhat tolerable than the rest of them.
It's very weird, because I adore Kasie's books but this was a huge disappointment. However, I won't give up on her book just because this was bad. :)
In conclusion:

Imagine being this much of a dumb bitch????
I can deal with an idiot if they have a clear arc of growth, but her character development was 300 pages of me suffering and then 3 pages of her ~*realising things*~ and doing what people had told her to do 300 PAGES AGO
Also, the author rammed it down our throats that the protagonist is smart, logical, and controlling and yet she does everything on a fucking whim and doesn’t heed financial advice. And where were the parents in all this? Turning 18 doesn’t mean they suddenly don’t give a damn about how you live your life.
I signed up for a cute romance and just got an annoying naive girl who won the lottery and proceeded to shit all over her friends.

Love interest was BLAND, I'm so sorry but not really.

Man this was cute. I went into it knowing I was likely going to get a fluffy, cute contemporary book that made me smile and thats what I got. Was it a great master piece? maybe not, but I hella enjoyed my time reading it

i hate to say it, but there’s absolutely nothing i liked about this book
Definitely not my favourite Kasie West novel. After reading By Your Side earlier this year, I had pretty high expectations for this one.
The story starts off quite well. Maddie is a studious senior in high school and her relationships with her friends, family and co-worker Seth are all interesting to read. Then Maddie wins the lottery and it all goes downhill from there. Although the premise is good, Maddie, is what spoiled it for me. The level-headed, studious girl seems to vanish overnight, despite her saying she is going to see a financial advisor. She is exceptionally naive and so easily pressured into things (a yacht, really?). Also, any conflict felt like it was there just for the sake of having some conflict in the book, especially the bit with Seth towards the end - very predictable. The cute romance that is typical of Kasie West's books is an extremely small part of this book and what was there felt very flat. Not the usual magic at all.

Nope. Nope. Nope.

I can't do this. I have read most of Kasie West's books and I can handle a certain amount of cheese in my books. But I just cannot handle this one. Maybe its the audiobook's narrator which was insufferable. Or maybe this book is just next levels of unbelievably and annoyance.

I was excited that this book portrayed an interracial relationship (I’m all about that rep) but then the love interest might as well have been white. I don’t remember any defining characteristic that made him Asian except for his last name. Kasie West has been super hit or miss for me. Some books I love, but others are just flat. I did like the zoo setting though.
